Training visa subclass 407

Training Visa subclass 407 is a two-year temporary visa that is issued to people who need to participate in a training programme for an Australian company in a job skill or professional field.

You must：

• be sponsored

• be nominated (unless your sponsor is a Commonwealth Government agency)

• be invited (if your sponsor is a Commonwealth Government agency)

There are three branches of the 407 visa:

1. For the purpose of obtaining a trade registration qualification

2. For on-the-job training to enhance skills.

3. For upgrading the professional skills of overseas applicants.

The 407 visa can be renewed for spouses and children, where the spouse has a work permit.

Visa Advantages:

1. No requirement for vocational and technical assessment

2. Low minimum English language requirement, only need IELTS average 4.5 points

3. Applicants can bring their spouses and children to work and study in Australia.

4. Can be renewed and accumulate relevant work experience

407 Training Visa Application Requirements:

1. Employer requirements

* Legally operating business or government organisation in Australia

* Have a training programme with at least 30 hours of on-the-job training per week.

* The occupation to be nominated is on the 407 Occupation List.

* Willing to fulfil the employer's obligations

2. Visa Applicant Requirements

*At least 1 year of full-time experience (including study and work experience) in the past 2 years

*IELTS average score of 4.5

*Employer nomination

407 Training Visa is suitable for people who:

1. already have 1 year of work experience in Australia and want to achieve a high score and are waiting for an 189/190/491 offer

2. want to gather 2 or 3 years of work experience and apply for 482/186DE/494 visa.

3. has 485 work visa but will expired, and still need 1-2 years of experience to complete the vocational and technical assessment.

4. wish to improve their professional skills in Australia.

Note: From 1 July 2023, work restrictions for secondary applicants holding a 407 Training visa will be re-introduced and capped at 40 hours per fortnight.
