Carer visa subclass 836/116
Carer visa is a permanent visa that can be applied onshore (subclass 836) or offshore (subclass 116). This visa is suitable for the applicant who wants to come to Australia to care for someone with a long-term medical condition, and the applicant can live together with these people.
Subclass 836 Carer visa must be applied for onshore Australia, and the applicant must be in Australia when the visa is granted. Subclass 116 Carer visa must be applied for outshore Australia, and the applicant must be outside Australia when the visa is granted.

Eligibility for the applicant:
Meet the health and character requirement.
The person being cared for must be a relative of the applicant in Australia. You must submit an assessment certificate from a medical practitioner designated by Immigration Department that you have a long-term health problem that requires daily care for at least two years, and you are not available to get such service in Australia.
Eligibility for sponsor
The sponsor must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen who is at least 18 years of age. The sponsor can be the person being cared for or a family member of the person being cared for.
