Student Guardian Visa subclass 590



Parents of underage international students can apply for a companion visa while they are studying in Australia. This visa is a temporary visa that is usually valid for the duration of the underage child's time studying in Australia, or for the time the child reaches the age of 18.


This visa allows the applicant to travel to Australia to care for the child and can be used for multiple visits to Australia.


The Student Guardian Visa requires the applicant have sufficient deposit to stay in Australia. The applicant can attend a language training program but does not have the right to work.


Visa Specific Requirements


- The applicant is over 21 years of age


- Be a parent, legal guardian or relative of a minor international student in Australia and be able to provide care for the international student


- Have sufficient evidence of financial support


- Meet health and character requirements
