485 Work Visa Extension Will No Longer Be Available

485 Work Visa Extension Ends, Returns to Pre-pandemic Status

Since July 2023, due to the impact of the epidemic, the valid duration of the 485 work visa can be extended for free according to the study course, and more than 3,000 courses can be extended for another 2 years on the basis of the original 485 work visa.

However, in light of changes in Australia's economic environment and other considerations identified in the immigration strategy, the Department has reconsidered the extension period. Therefore, from mid-2024 onwards, the 485 visa will no longer be able to be extended. International graduates who meet the visa study requirements will still be eligible for the existing temporary graduate visa.
